Introduction

This document will give insight to the feature of secondary currency. It will help agency to set it up easily.


Note: Please note that this feature is designed only for flights.

What is a secondary currency?

This option allows an agency to display flight prices in two currencies. The main currency is the currency selected in the website settings and in that currency travelers will make a reservation.


The secondary currency is just informative display. This will help agencies located in countries where country regulations require dual currency to be displayed to the clients.


Setup

In order to access the dual currency setup please follow the next path

Admin panel → Website→ View Websites→ Edit Website→ Currency Details

Under the secondary currency option, you should select the second currency in which you want to display prices. The main currency that is selected will not be displayed in the list for Secondary currency.


When you select a secondary currency, you can set the exchange rate. If you don't specify the exchange rate, the system will use the exchange rate from the GDS that you are using for the currency that you selected.


How to use it?

When everything is set you can perform a search in order to see how it works.


In our example we will use Euro as main currency and Serbian Dinar as secondary. The exchange rate will be 117.5.

When you perform a search in the search result page you will see price in two currencies.


NOTE: The markups will be also converted to secondary currency.

As you can see the secondary currency is less visible than the main one. The conversion in the dual currency is done in the fare family display as well.

NOTE: When the we hover the price, price breakdown will not be displayed in dual currency. It will be displayed in the main currency only.

In the shopping cart, price will be also displayed in dual currency:

The price breakdown section also will be displayed in two currencies. Secondary currency will be displayed enclosed in parentheses.

NOTE: Additional services like baggage, sport eqeuipment or similar upon selection will not be converted. However when it is added, it be converted in the price breakdown.

When the booking is complete, in the confirmation email secondary currency will be displayed enclosed in parentheses but only for the total price.

NOTE: If there is combination of air with car or hotel, in the confiramtion email secondary currency will not be displayed.
