Introduction
Trip reasons are primarily used to highlight the purpose of corporate travel.
Apart from that, trip reasons are used as the most restrictive reference parameter when it comes to calculating the application of two active policies.
Create Trip Reason Codes
In order to access the panel for creating trip reason codes, use the following path:
Corporate Site → Edit Travel Group → Create Trip Reason Codes on the left panel.

After clicking on the "Create Trip Reason Codes" tab, the system will present you with the trip reason panel:

Note how the system creates one trip reason named "Business" by default once the corporate website is created.
Using the corporate environment without trip reasons is possible, although not recommended you are able to delete it and proceed on using the system without any trip reasons.
Most users on the other hand use the system by creating many trip reasons that will have different purposes for the future operations of their corporation.
In order to create the trip reason, click on the "Create Trip Reason" button as highlighted below:

Once the button is clicked, the new window will present you with the options to specify "Code" as well as the "Description", as seen below:

Note that specifying the trip reason code is not mandatory but the description is. Trip reason code is primarily used as a differentiator for creating commands within Command Builder and for sending/creating remarks.
After you click on "Save" the newly created trip reason will be presented in the list of all created trip reasons:

Trip Reason and the Booking Engine
After the trip reasons are created they are ready to be selected and used for any corporate travel from a travel group where they are created.
In the previously posted image (No.5) we can see that two trip reasons are created, "Business" and "Corporate Travel". Here's a drop-down menu where you are required to specify the trip reason before starting the search request:

Before initiating a search on the booking engine, in this case, we would be required to select the right trip reason before initiating a search request.
If no trip reason is selected from the drop-down menu and the "Search" button is clicked the system will present you with the error stating "Please select Trip Reason to continue booking" as seen in the image below:

Note that some corporate users will prefer to create a corporate enviroment without any trip reasons made. In this case the system will not require from you to select trip reason before initiating search request and you will not face any errors regarding trip reasons between specifying booking request parameters and receiving booking results.
Additionally, the traveler picks the trip reason on the booking engine and the code will be sent in the remark if it is created on the travel group and in the command builder.

Both "Trip reason code" as well as "Trip reason description" can be specified and sent as remarks through Command Builder.
Note that both code and description are two independent variables in the command builder as seen in the example below:
